A true living-history hotel

At the far edge of Gerolimenas Port, our hotel carries the warmth and spirit of a place shaped by Mani’s history for generations. The old store, residence, warehouse, and stone tower have all been carefully restored by the Kyrimis family, preserving the soul of the original complex and its deep connection to its legacy and the land surrounding it.

Today, the old wine storage room has become our hotel’s reception, welcoming guests from all around the world, with the stone arch and antique safe still echoing stories of the past. Right beside it, the former wood storage room shelters old books, handwritten records, and historical documents uncovered during restoration, shaping small fragments of another era and carrying the 19th-century atmosphere of Gerolimenas, when the port flourished with trade, movement, and stories arriving from across the Mediterranean.

The restoration process has been guided by our deep respect for Maniot architecture and the authentic character of the original complex. Stone and wood remain at the heart of every space, preserving the textures, proportions, and craftsmanship that have shaped the buildings through time.

Today, stairways, arches, and inner courtyards rise above Gerolimena’s raw scenery, blending history, simplicity and elegance, and inviting you to meet the timeless charms of Mani at the water’s edge.

Over 150 years in one stay

Rising above Gerolimenas Port since 1870, our hotel carries over 150 years of history mirrored in the spaces, objects, and stories that still live within its stone walls. Carefully restored with respect for its heritage and original character, the complex preserves the atmosphere of another era, promising to guide you through decades in just one stay.

A snapshot from the golden years of trade

From the island of Syros to the ports of the Mediterranean, Kyrimai’s story is deeply connected to an important chapter in Mani’s commercial history. Almost 150 years ago, Michael Katsimantis, a trader from Syros, and Theodore Kyrimis, trader and mayor of Middle Mani, helped transform Gerolimenas into a flourishing trading point that connected Mani with the markets of Ermoupolis, Piraeus, and the Mediterranean.

For the years that followed, local products traveled from this southern edge of the Peloponnese, carrying the richness of Maniot land and craftsmanship across seas. Through decades of trade, movement, and exchange, Gerolimenas grew into a lively point of trade, traces of which still remain deeply present in Kyrimai’s atmosphere and aesthetics.
